Born in an agriculture family, Dr Raghuramulu is a holder of doctorate degree in Agriculture from the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore.

Possesses nearly 33 years of experience in coffee research at the Central Coffee Research Institute, Coffee Board of India including a brief 18 months experience as Associate Professor at the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore.

During his stint at the Coffee Board, he has held senior supervisory position for nearly 15 years and was involved in planning, co-ordination and monitoring of various research projects including three externally funded multi-country research projects one each implemented by the FAO, Rome, Natural Resources Institute, UK and CIRAD, Montpellier, France.

Took over as Director of Research, Coffee Board of India during February 2014 and superannuated during June 2019 and later served as Senior Advisor to Coffee Board till end of 2020.

During his tenure as Director of Research, he was involved in introduction of IT/ IOT based tools in transfer of technology viz., Coffee Connect, Coffee Krishi Taranga.

Currently, he is working as an International Senior Coffee Agronomist in two technical projects funded by the Asean Development Bank (ADB) being implemented in VietNam and Indonesia for building capacity of small coffee producers in climate smart farming and production of sustainably grown coffee.

He is also a Member of the Core Committee constituted by Coffee Board of India for the development of Indian Coffee Sustainability Standards (INDICOFS).

While in service, he had held many positions in various Professional Bodies which include,

• Member of the Technical Committee and Evaluation Committees constituted under the National Programme on Organic Production (NPOP) of Govt. of India.
• Chairman of FAD-6 – Stimulants Foods Sectional Committee Bureau of Indian Standards.
• Chairman of ISO/TC34/SC15 Working Group 14 on Coffee Vocabulary.

Travelled widely in many coffee producing and consuming countries as a part of multi-country collaborative research programmes and promotional events on Indian coffee and possesses good knowledge on major coffee producing and consuming countries.
