Release of R & D Technologies

On the occasion of the Centenary Celebration, CCRI will release several R & D technology and coffee-based/coffee- derived-products for the benefit of coffee growers:

a) Coffee Biochar Enriched with Trichoderma

Biochar is a carbon-rich product derived from various solid agricultural waste biomasses using a biomass pyrolizer in the absence of oxygen. The Post-Harvest Technology division of CCRI has developed a coffee waste based product viz., “Coffee Biochar” which can be a potential alternatives to sand in the potting mixture to grow coffee seedlings and can be a viable replacement to ASH during seed coffee preparations. CCRI has also optimized methodology for the production of coffee biochar granules enriched with Trichoderma culture (bio-priming) for the effective sustenance of Trichoderma culture in the field and better establishment of coffee seedlings in the field.

b) Eco-friendly sprayable lime technology

The Entomology Division has identified a new sprayable lime formulation for the management of Coffee White Stem Borer (CWSB). This new formulation is easy to prepare and spray on coffee plants. It effectively prevents the egg laying of CWSB. One labour can cover one acre per day, enabling coverage of larger areas efficiently compared to swabbing. Reduces labour requirement and saves overall expenditure for the CWSB management

c) Microbial consortium for the eco-friendly management of coffee diseases

The Plant Pathology Division has developed a new microbial consortium crafted from native bio-agents sourced from coffee soils. This eco-smart innovation offers a sustainable shield against major coffee diseases, boosting seedling vigour, cutting down chemical use, and empowering organic coffee growers with a natural edge.

d) Coffee Bio-Capsules for disease management: A green solution for stronger roots and healthier seedlings

Coffee Bio-Capsule is a smart, eco-friendly innovation powered by native bio-agents Trichoderma, Pseudomonas, and Bacillus sourced from coffee soils. It naturally combats Rhizoctonia solani, the collar rot pathogen, while giving seedlings a strong, healthy start.

CCRI Coffee Special

e) CCRI Coffee Special – A Secondary and Micronutrient formulation for foliar application

CCRI Coffee Special is a balanced foliar formulation containing essential secondary nutrients (Mg, S), micronutrients (Zn, B), and beneficial Silicon. It disperses easily in water, maintains optimum pH, and ensures maximum nutrient uptake for healthier coffee plants.
