Established in 2014, the Division focuses on improving coffee quality through research on processing methods, evaluation of coffee processing machineries (pulper/washer/dryer), management of coffee effluent resulting of wet processing of coffee and value addition of coffee processing wastes. Key contributions include developed Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Good Hygienic Practices (GHPs) for quality coffee processing, evaluating eco-pulpers and dryers, designing effluent treatment solutions, and converting processing waste into biochar.
The Division also hosts a Q-Processing training course in collaboration with the Coffee Quality Institute (USA), promoting the growth of specialty coffee production.
