The Division works on micropropagation techniques for large-scale production of quality planting material and the use of DNA marker technologies for genetic improvement.

The Division also undertakes DNA fingerprinting to study genetic diversity, supporting conservation and breeding programmes. In addition, research is underway to develop pest- and disease-resistant coffee varieties through advanced genetic approaches, helping strengthen long-term crop resilience and productivity.
