The Central Coffee Research Institute, under the Coffee Board of India, plays a key role in producing and distributing certified coffee seeds & planting material to farmers across India.
The program aims to:
CCRI and the Coffee Board of India produce and distribute approximately 19–20 metric tonnes (MT) of coffee seeds annually, covering both Arabica and Robusta varieties.
The quantity of seed distribution varies each year based on farmer demand and planting requirements. Most of the seeds are distributed to newly expanding coffee areas of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and North Eastern states like Mizoram, Nagaland, and Meghalaya.
The Coffee Board supplies seeds from seed plots of specific varieties established at various research stations and technical evaluation centers of the Board.
